Vrijdag 7 januari: van Low Camp naar High Camp 2900 meter – 4000 meter, ca. 4-6 uur. De voorlaatste stap van de expeditie is gezet. Team Wilco is aangekomen in High Camp, het laatste kamp voor de top. Naar verwachting zullen Wilco en Fokke dit weekend de top bereiken!

High Camplies at 13200 ft (4000 m). Depending on weather and fitness this may be a ‘load carry’ or we may stay overnight at High Camp. Our route takes us up the broad mixed spur at the northern end of the Branscomb Ridge. We ascend fixed ropes on snow slopes up to 45°, with some rocky sections and areas of blue ice. High camp is more basic than camps below. We cook simple, dehydrated meals and eat them in our tents or outside if the weather is calm. Our next day is spent resting and acclimatizing at High Camp. This gives everyone the best chance of summiting the following day.
